The International Break

Article by Matt Wilson @Yid4Life_COYS

After our point against bitter rivals Arsenal on Sunday, we turn our attention to the internationals.

On Wednesday we can see young Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters play in the England U20s Cup against Nigeria in South Korea.

It’s a clash of the Tottenham boys on Wednesday too, with Janssen and Vorm in the Holland Squad, and Dembele, our Man of the Match against Arsenal, and Jan Vertonghen featuring in Belgium’s 23-man squad.

On Thursday the U20s (Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters) play South Korea in an early morning Kick Off. Furthermore, Harry Winks could start in England’s Under 23’s team with a friendly against Italy on the cards.

Come Friday, Heung-Min Son will inevitably start for South Korea against Canada. In the evening, Kane, Walker, Rose, and Dier could add another England cap to their name in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier against Scotland. Our Danish superstar (though, maybe not this season) Christian Eriksen may feature in their World Cup Qualifier against Kazakhstan – a chance for Eriksen to regain some lost form. Finally, Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko could play for France who host Sweden in another World Cup Qualifier.

Other key games include:

Wanyama – Kenya vs Liberia
Wimmer – Austria vs Slovakia
Cameron Carter-Vickers – Costa Rica vs USA

Midway through last month, young goalkeeper Tom Glover kept two clean sheets for Australia’s Under-19s in their three group stage matches at the AFC Under-19 Championship in Bahrain. Tom was in goal for a 1-0 win against China, followed by a 3-2 defeat to Uzbekistan and a goalless draw with Tajikistan but those results were insufficient for them to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament and, consequently, his nation also missed out on a place at next year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup.

Injury News:

Dele Alli did not feature against Arsenal on Sunday and has not met up with the England squad after reports suggest he has suffered a Knee injury, picked up in training.

Toby Alderweireld may return to action after the International Break, in a high heated London Derby against West Ham at the Lane.

There were reports suggesting that Danny Rose may have suffered from an Ankle injury against Arsenal, but the consensus around the Training Ground is that he will not miss any upcoming Tottenham games and may not feature against Scotland for England on Friday evening.

Worryingly, Kyle Walker was substituted off against Arsenal by the 80th minute. He appeared to be limping slightly as he left the pitch. However, there has been little coverage as to the severity of his injury and nevertheless, he has trained and appeared with the England Team, suggesting that the Substitution against Arsenal was merely precautionary.

Other News:

Harry Kane was on media duty for England on Tuesday Afternoon saying that he feels fit, healthy, happy, and good. Club and, National Captain, Hugo Lloris was interviewed by French Media on Monday and Christian Eriksen was also pictured in the spotlight.
