Mental Frailties is Spurs only issue‏

Well happy “New Season” to all Spurs followers. I’ve waited for the four games to come and go, and have a good look at our squad, both home and away. Firstly I don’t understand why Vertonghen didn’t play against Sunderland, and really we should have spanked a very average Sunderland. So 2-2 all was the end result. So where are the issues. You systematically question the mental frailties that is the squad Tottenham possess, and I mean the whole squad.

Lloris in a heart-beat would have been my number choice for skipper. But he’s been found out against Liverpool and both goals today. Sorry I pull no punches, he was at fault in both games. So where does “Pochman” go? He has to find within the main starters a strong mined leader, determined to lead from the front, able to rally the team when things commence to fall apart, and he is where I struggle, we don’t have that person at present. When you analyse the squad, individually all the players are similar in attitude, proficiently as good as any squad in the league, mentally way behind the Manchester City, Chelsea’s and even Arsenal of the worlds. Every time Spurs are on the ropes or under the pump, I see blank looks from all concerned, I don’t see a player with that grit that is required, basically we are a “nice” team, that takes the criticism when we get pumped and just turn out next week and play. The issue with Spurs is we don’t generally know which Spurs side is going to come and play week in week out. Often I’m left with my heart in my mouth, why? Because we can’t kill teams off..

To say we accept mediocrity may be a bit harsh, but we are. Starting from the start of the season, Pochman required a striker. No offence to Kane and Soldado, but neither can carry the line at present. So did we get our striker…No. Again we delved into “midfielders” as if we didn’t have enough, Dier is a great buy, and wait till you all get to see Strambouli, my choice as skipper, but won’t get it. He has the mentality required to push his team to the next level.

Poch is the ideal person to lead Spurs this year and for many to come. The issue is how is he going to instill the “killer” mentality into a “nice” squad. Say what you like about Chelsea, they have is all, plus the extra pounds!. But in Mourinho they have a sharp operator who not only physically gets them primed but mentally as well. Love him or not, the guy is a genius, Pochman is in the same mould. I honestly have stayed out of the forums to which daydreamers want us in the Champions League next year. If by luck we do, great, but we will be top seven. What I want to see is where and how Pochettino is going to milk the ultimate out of a bunch of “nice” players. How is he going to instill the mongrel required? Who is going to drive it..

This squad today will be totally different in one month from now, and different again in three months from now and totally different by seasons end. Only then will we see if the Pochman has genuine control over this squad. Only then will we see if they really want to make a big difference in the premier league and not just turn up for wages. As mentioned I don’t give a proverbial about the Champions league, and realistically neither should any Spurs fan as we are at the beginning of a journey, and we’ve taken four steps.

Lastly, the stadium and new owners, simple where there’s smoke there’s fire. Both will happen sooner rather than later, new owners first, followed by new stadium..

No it's NOT the ONLY problem!
    Either problems include:
    1) Poor defending
    2) Forwards not scoring
    3) Lack of leaderships
    Etc, etc

you're absolutely right. Most Spurs are soft. Lloris greatly overrated. Kaboul and Capoue sh.t. Dembele also a softee. Adebayor no good as a scorer - just for holding ball.
