Short but sweet....

Internationals

OK, so I guess we all can breathe a little bit easier as all of our players made it through the first international match of this break unscathed. Thank heaven for that as I have nightmares about our players coming back to Spurs Lodge looking like a bunch of zombies from The Walking Dead, unable to do much besides groan and wander around aimlessly. Let’s give a quick rundown on how everyone did yesterday.

Kyle Walker played all 90 minutes and didn’t put in a wrong foot against Moldova. Jermain and Andros were unused substitutes as the Three Lions ran out winners by a score of 4 nil.

Our trio of Belgians, Jan, Nacer and Moussa all were involved in their 2 nil win vs. Scotland. Jan and Nacer played the full match as this very dangerous and talented Belgium squad was a deserved winner against a Scottish side that had no real answer for the quality that Belgium was able to field. Moussa came on in the 87th minute as his side was able to see out a comfortable win which puts them right at the doorstep of qualifying for the World Cup.

Newest signing, Christian Eriksen, dictated play as his Dannish side took care of business against Malta, winning by a score of 2-1. He ended up getting credit for the winner as he was able to skip past a few challenges, nutmegged a defender, and then unleashed a powerful drive which came off the woodwork and deflected into the back of the net via the Maltese defender Ryan Camilleri. Great move and excellent play by our new no. 10 and I cannot wait to see him in Lilywhite.

Vlad ChricheÅŸ captained Romania and was a rock in the backline as they beat neighbours Hungary by a scoreline of 3 nil. Nothing much to report here as his Romanian side dominated from the opening whistle, getting a crucial three points to move his side up to second in their group.

Hugo Lloris also captained his French side and returned to Georgia to face their national side in the same arena where Spurs were able to see off Dinamo Tbilisi last month in the first leg of the Europa League playoff. Unfortunately, his side was only able to grind out a nil nil draw but he was still impressive between the sticks. On a personal note, I have no idea how a French side, with the amount of talent they possess, could not have beaten this Georgian side. No offence, but c’mon guys, Hugo deserves better.

Siggy played the full 90 in an exciting match against Switzerland as his Iceland side, being down 4-1, roared back and snagged a crucial road point with three late goals. Possibly the best match of this round, his Icelandic side scored the equaliser in stoppage time via a beautiful curling effort by Johann Berg Gudmundsson from outside the area which gave the Swiss keeper no chance. Excellent match for the neutrals, horrible outcome for the Swiss fans.

In Other News

Apparently we are interested in signing the next Zidane, again, from PSG in January. His name is Adrien Rabiot and him being young, talented and French, he is the next wonderkid to get this moniker. How’d the last “next Zidane” do? Oh right, he’s on loan at Fulham. In case you haven’t guessed, he is Adel Taarabt and he has yet to show even a tenth of the talent of that headbutting, Gareth Bale-tapping French legend. Yes, I hate Zidane, in case you haven’t guessed it but I will always remember him walking past the 2006 World Cup trophy, head down in shame after being dismissed for violent conduct against the greatest national side and eventual 2006 Cup winners, Italy.

Speaking of Gareth Bale, in an interview after Wales had lost to Macedonia, he said that he will always love and respect the Tottenham fans and coaching staff and that he may return one day. I am torn on this whole idea. I love him yet hate him in the same breathe. Deserving of trophies and glory, I cannot begrudge him for leaving but the way it was done leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth. Not a Spurs legend, but made quite the impression in only a few years at the Lane. The best to him, but when that days comes that it is us vs. him, I hope we wipe the floor with him and his Los Blancos teammates.

One final note, it seems that we are getting a good amount of trolling in the comments from Arsenal fans, taunting us for whatever reason. Maybe it’s cause they need to find out how proper, quality articles are written as the drivel their websites put out read like they were written by 12 yr old angry boys. To this I say, please continue to voice your opinions here as all once the end of the season comes, I will be sure to come back to these comments and throw them all in the faces of every Arsenal fan I find. And the fact that I am getting you all wound up over a few words just makes me keep this ear-to-ear smile all day long.

And that should be that. News was kinda slow today but hopefully you all enjoyed my little report. Thanks for reading everyone! COYS!!!

  1. I do not respect the Tottenham fans in any way. Nor am I motivated by career prospects or glory. I have committed career suicide and any trophies will be won by others while I warm the bench, like all the other moronic footballers such as Campbell, Sheringham, Modric, Carrick and Berbatov.

I deserve failure, nothing else. Anyone saying otherwise is not a Tottenham fan. I showed my contempt for Tottenham fans when I refused to honour my signature on my contract.

  2. A good daily dose. The international window is taking forever! I hope Gylfi gets back in shape. I am going to wait a month for the purchase of my new spurs-jersey, but I think it stands between Chadli and Eriksen - they are such likeable lads!
