Spurs Slay Villa, Stephen Caulker Salutes Spurs, Spanish U21 Striker on the Agenda and U17 French International Linked.

Spurs Slay Villa:

Aston Villa 0 - 4 Spurs read the scoreboard at Villa Park as Tottenham steamrollered past a lacklustre Villa side.

Spurs made several changes to the side that played two days ago and looked every bit like a side looking to challenge for honours.

Jermaine Defoe bagged a brace in his typical fashion proving that he is clinical when it matters and remains useful to the Spurs side.

Paulinho continued his impressive start to his Tottenham career and showed once again that he has goals in his locker as well as a hunger to succeed.

Nacer Chadli scored his first goal for the side as he came off the bench to perform an excellent cameo after returning from injury.

Spurs will be looking to take this good form into the weekend against Chelsea as they lock horns in a much anticipated encounter.

Stephen Caulker Salutes Spurs:

Stephen Caulker paid tribute to a strong Spurs side that battered Cardiff City for ninety minutes despite what the score line may have suggested.

The ex-Spurs centre back complimented the array of talent littered throughout the squad and he felt that even though Tottenham have lost Gareth Bale, they will surely go on to great things.

He said: “Yeah, with the players they have brought in and the squad they have got, they should be achieving things,”

“They have spent a lot of money and when teams spend that amount of money you expect big things from them.”

“It's slightly different there now. Without Bale they did not have that threat - but they have other players who came in and looked strong. I thought their movement up front was great.”

"With the money they have spent they have got great players with a lot of movement. They have got Soldado and Eriksen running off and you have got to be focused.

"When you bring on a £27m-plus player in the last minute, like Lamela, it is going to be difficult. With the money they have spent they will all cause teams problems."

Spanish U21 Striker on the Agenda:

Spanish under 21 international, Rodrigo, is currently within the scouting web at Spurs as they have reportedly sent scouts out to track him at Benfica.

The young striker scored 7 goals in 20 league matches in La Primeira Liga in Portugal last season and could prove useful for Spurs as an option off the bench.

The centre forward, who is valued at around £10 million, stands at six foot and is also said to be courted by Inter Milan.

Rodrigo shares a dual nationality with Brazil but has opted to play for Spain instead and he could fill the “promising youngster” role in the Spurs attack, with Harry Kane seemingly in the last chance saloon.

U17 French International Linked:

French youth international, Adrien Rabiot, is being targeted by Spurs according to Le 10 magazine in France with reports suggesting talks could be underway.

Rabiot is tipped by many to be one to watch out for in the future and standing at six foot two he is a daunting figure, although he still possesses a deft touch and competitive attitude.

The 18 year old central midfielder has been capped for his nation at under-16 and under-17 levels and Spurs have supposedly sent scouts to monitor his progress over the next few months.

Andre Villa-Boas would most likely see this prospective transfer as one for the future as Spurs is already well equipped in the midfield area with most of them youngsters themselves.
