Cerberus in the Dugout

Article by Jason Nunn

So I’m writing this immediately after our record breaking/equalling performance against Swansea. Like most I was a taken aback by the team selection prior to the game.

The change of formation showed that maybe Tim is not as tactically inept as some people, me included, believe but after results of late I have to give credit where credit is due. However am I missing something are we all missing something?

For those that have forgotten their Greek mythology Cerberus is a multi-headed dog usually 3 headed. Is this what we have got in charge at Spurs now? Does Tim really make all the decisions or do Ramsey and Les have more input. I’d like to think that after sticking in recent games to the so called modified 442 and not bossing the midfield the 3 headed management team that we have at the helm took the decision together to play a different more typical 433 system. Knowing how Swansea like to dominate possession and pass the ball I’d like to think Cerberus sat up and knew we would have to do something to stop that. Yes we weren’t at our best and for lots of the first half Swansea did boss the midfield, but once we clicked I think we clicked really well (biased maybe a bit).I’m hoping Cerberus looked and worked together using the knowledge that Swansea would press and figured out the best way to hurt them was on the counter attack.

Tim was appointed as head coach ,manager, boss whatever we want to call it but let’s hope in his management infancy he can rely on those appointed with him to help him along the way .There will be a lot tougher tactical decisions and tests to come but surely 3 heads are better than 1.
