For a start I do not believe that this season has been as bad as a lot of people are making out. Granted, we have taken some severe beatings and our aggregate score against this seasons top four reads goals scored 2, goals conceded 27. However, there have been some positives as well. The emergence of Harry Kane, the form of Christian Eriksen in the second half of the season and our second successive win at Old Trafford to name a few.
Watching the team recently has given me optimism for next season. Like a lot of us, a month ago I could not wait for this season to end, for a new manager to be appointed and for us to start afresh… again! Then I looked at our team. In Hugo Lloris we have one of the world’s best keepers, and in Jan Vertonghen we have a top class centre back. In midfield we have the beast, Sandro, and the genius of Christian Eriksen, and up front we have two proven goal scorers in Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado. So the spine of our team is very good. Like everyone else we will need to strengthen certain areas of our and add depth to our squad, but if we get that right we could have one hell of a team come the start of next season.
We desperately need a left back, and a good one at that, because I am afraid to say, Danny Rose is not the answer. We need a solid and dependable centre back to partner Jan Vertonghen as Younès Kaboul is not the most reliable, Vlad Chiricheş appears to struggling to adapt to the league and Michael Dawson lacks the pace required in the Premier League. I also believe that we need another natural winger to allow us to open teams up and play on the counter attack. A fourth striker, a goal poacher like Jermain Defoe would be nice too.
If we sign the three or four players we need during the close season, the earlier the better, then I genuinely believe we will have a good chance of breaking back in to the top four next season. I am not going to mention who I think we should sign as we are going to be linked with countless players, especially during The World cup.
The new manager is going to have the biggest influence with regards to what we achieve next season and Daniel Levy has to take his time and make sure he appoints the man wants and believes in. Daniel then needs to leave him be and allow the new man to do his job. By all means consult Franco Baldini on who the new man should be, just make the right appointment, because I am getting really fed up with transitional season after transitional season, though that is a story for another day.

This season has been really bad not for any other reason than the dire football that we have dished up . It's been mind numbing boring lacklustre no passion no pride no commitment no desire and in the second half of the season very little tactics . So no this season has not been good our finishing 6th really is only down to the rest of the league being worse than we were not us being good ... With a manager / coach to show this team the way we could do great things with this squad but sorry to have to say it but tim is not the one to create this future ......COYS
ReplyDeletePaul smudger, we see more Clubs with that problem, Swansea(and the managers actuly do a good job), So what goes wrong both Tottenham and Swansea one week play dream football agains a top team and Next week they go terrible down.Is a mental thing i think. on the paper fantastic players in Swansea, but very high quality in Tottenham as well. i would say is not impossible to get Michu , and i hope Swansea and former Valencia player Pablo Hernandez as well, he is a fantastic dribler ,him and Eriksen would be ripoff the midfield. and created a lot of Space fot there teammates..
