Spurs fans of a certain age will remember well the days when a pre/post season tour consisted of a few games in deepest Essex or the south coast at a stretch. As the team touch down in Sydney those times feel about as ancient as Blatter's reign at FIFA's top table.
Previous to the lads flying out to Asia and Australia my views on this post season jaunt were somewhat mixed. However, having seen the welcome our club has received both from the fans and authorities I now feel not only a great sense of pride but also a acceptance that, maybe for once, the club made the correct decision in leaving these shores so soon after a long season.
Being a local lad from Tottenham it's easy to forget that the club I used to watch in pre-season games at Enfield is now a global entity with over 100 supporters clubs worldwide and a quick glance at any social media platform will give you an idea of the scale of the support out there for the Lilywhites.
In 2014 American broadcaster NBC named Tottenham as the most supported EPL side of fans in North America, a stat the club appear to have exploited on a number of occasions with tours stateside. There are also supporters clubs from New York to Dallas and many in between, justifying Levy's decision to send the team on a sometimes gruelling schedule.

Back to Aus and Spurs prepare to take on Sydney tomorrow in front of our brothers and sisters from a land down under. Just another example of the strength and reach of brand Tottenham Hotspur.
