The Daily Dose - Death and Taxes

Much like death and taxes, bizarre transfer rumours are one thing that all Tottenham fans can schedule ahead for every year. This year has been no different with the gossip ranging from the strange (Morata) to the just plain ridiculous (Ibrahimovic).

Despite today's news in the UK having been dominated by Britain's jumping from the already sinking good ship EU the click bait articles and 'ITK's' continue to pedal their own brand of propaganda and links without source or foundation.

Computer says NO (again)

Dutch outlet AD Sportwereld reported last night that Tottenham Hotspur's latest bid for striker Vincent Janssen had been turned down, with the Eredivisie club holding out for a higher offer.

Now courtesy of newspaper De Telegraaf, details of Tottenham's offer have emerged.

It is claimed Tottenham bid 14 million Euros for Janssen, offering to spread the payment in instalments over a three-year period (no real surpise there huh?).

This was deemed unacceptable to AZ Alkmaar, and the paper claim a previous offer of 12.5 million Euros plus 2.5m in bonuses as also rejected. Further reports suggest that we will return with an improved offer. Expect this one to drag.

French Fancy

Staying with strikers and the Marseille President Vincent Labrune is clearly playing all parties off against one another in the race to sign striker Michy Batshuayi, now promising that he will sell the player by the end of the transfer window - much later than expected.

Juve remain at the table and Arsenal are once again sniffing after the collapse of Jamie 'Fairytale' Vardy's move to the Emirates. However, despite their public claims otherwise, West Ham remain firmly at the back of the queue with Batshuayi refusing to talk to them.

L'Equipe are currently suggesting that Juventus submitted a bid in the region of £25.78-million yesterday. Once again, don't expect anything to happen for a few weeks at least.

Poch's and Payet Have Previous

Despite being the type of creative player Tottenham lacked last season in terms of unlocking opposition defences, it appears that our leader had in fact spotted the Frenchman much sooner than the Upton Park scouts and was full of praise for the Boleyn's current golden boy.

Pochettino commented: “I know (Payet) since his Saint-Etienne days. I then spoke about him a lot with Bielsa when they were both at Marseille. We did that a lot. He would tell me he was a super talent. Each manager’s objective is to help players progress in all areas.

“That’s what Marcelo did with Payet. He made him better, but firstly he’s a player who’s responsible for his own progress. Today, he’s found the good environment to settle. He’s only been in England for a year, but you’d think he’s been there forever.”
