With 2 league games and the start of our Champions League campaign at Wembley on Wednesday night, the week had been billed as a crucial one for the club. On Saturday afternoon we travelled north to face Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium.

It couldn't have gotten off to a better start.
A victory was a must and not just any sort of win, but a performance to go with it. Something that had been lacking since we played Stoke away last season. And boy did the boys from N17 deliver!
Just like the previous season, we tore Stoke apart and scored at will. Everything that had been missing was on show and it was great to see us winning the ball back in midfield with our high press, creating chances and the sharp passing causing them all sorts of problems.
The bench has been a major issue when looking at it for the opening 3 games, but on Saturday it looked solid with new signing Sissoko, Janssen and the rested Lamela waiting for their chance to get on. Now that Dembele is available once again and with Rose and Wimmer coming back in from injury soon, it will look very good with a number of different options.
Players like Eriksen and Alli, who had come under fire for their poor start to the season, finally showed up and put in good performances.
Eriksen, for his part, signed a new £85,000 contract in the week and he looked like his old-self again as his passing was crisp and his touch solid. I said in my last piece that when Eriksen plays well and controls games, we normally win. This was the case here as he chipped in to assist Son twice.
Son was awarded his first start of the season and in return, he scored two beautifully taken goals, the second being contender for goal of the month. Many were writing him off after last season but for me, he did enough in his first campaign to show what he can do in his second season.
To cap off the perfect afternoon, Tottenham fans wanted, no needed, a goal from our talisman Harry Kane, who had gone 10 games without finding the net for club and country. That came to an end when Son turned provider and set him up with a simple tap in. Now that he has one and given everyone a head start in the race for the golden boot, lets hope he goes on to score more goals.
Time to look forward to what is sure to be a special occasion on Wednesday in the Champions League at Wembley.
The perfect start to a crucial week.
