The transfer rumour mill has not stopped churning since the close of the January window and the newest link that has substance to it is Diego Capel, the 25 year old winger at Sporting Lisbon. He is said to be available for just 5 million pounds due to Lisbon's inflated wage bill.
Spurs Target Capel |
He is a left winger that came up through Barcelona and Sevilla's youth systems before making his senior debut with Sevilla. This isn't the first time he is linked with us as he was close to joining in 2008 under Juande Ramos. Apparently, we would be competing with Swansea and Liverpool for him. He is a direct, explosive winger that doesn't score many goals and only 3 assists this season.
Should Spurs pursue him? Would he fit as an advanced winger in a 4-3-3?

if we were to buy him would it be to replace bale or siggy or for us to play a different formation altogether?
ReplyDeleteMy thinking is that he wouldn't be a replacement for anybody. Ultimately, it makes sense that AVB would change to his 4-3-3. If he does, Siggy has a role to play in the midfield while Capel would be a backup to Bale & Lennon on the wide positions up top. Those 2 have put in so many minutes this season, its a surprise that they havent been injured more often.
