AVB condemns FA, Soldado pushed Spurs move and Ibai Gomez on a free?

AVB condemns FA:

Andre Villas-Boas has condemned the FA for not taking action on Fernando Torres’ assault on Jan Vertongen in last Saturday’s game at White Hart Lane.

The Spurs manager was furious that the FA ignored the fact that Torres clawed at Vertongen’s face and labelled the decision as a “joke”.

AVB was shocked to hear the FA’s “farcical” verdict that the incident was merely a coming together of two players. The FA said that:

“One of the match officials saw the coming together of the two players, albeit not in its entirety.”

Villas-Boas’ response to the FA’s statement was:

“It's extremely difficult to know where to start.

“Obviously, it is almost a farcical decision. It doesn't matter to me which player or club is involved.

“Neither do I want to with my words put into question Fernando's integrity; neither their manager's, in trying to defend what is our position.

“I think the FA has made a decision almost a joke. It looks incredible. How can you see the images, pretty clear, and come out without punishment, on something which overtakes all professional behaviour?

“I think the decision is a disgrace. If the committee can't solve such clear images I don't think it sets out a good first example.

“I think the FA has lost all opportunity to put some sense into the images everybody saw.”

Soldado pushed Spurs move:

Valencia President, Amadeo Salvo, has said that they never wanted to sell Roberto Soldado to Spurs and it was he who eventually put pressure on the club to let him go.

Salvo also revealed that another team made an offer for the prolific Spanish international, although when Spurs slipped in, Soldado pushed the move through.

“There was another team that made a bid for him - Zenit St Petersburg from Russia - but the offer was not very good.

The second offer came from Tottenham, they wanted him and they got him. Our priority was not to sell Roberto Soldado, we wanted to sell four players to correct the cash flow.

Suddenly the offer came for Soldado, we were informed of the contract that he was signing and the agents.

The only decision to agree was the payment and that was agreed quickly with Daniel Levy. Soldado wanted to leave Valencia, we didn't want to sell Soldado.

Ibai Gomez on a free?

Bilbao newspaper El Correo has run a piece which suggests that Spurs could make a move for highly rated winger, Ibai Gomez.

The Spanish Newspaper says the player would be a “great risk free” signing as his contract ends June next year.

The 23 year old will be able to begin negotiating a move away from Bilbao for free as from January and could turn out to be a decent deal for Spurs should they decide to pursue him.
