Despite still not having appointed a manager, Tottenham continue to be linked with a number of players. In a week where both Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris have suggested that they’d be happy to stay at the club next season and with the former suggesting that “I’ll definitely stay”

Gareth Barry: Club: Free Agent (Released by Manchester City) Position: Holding Midfielder Estimated Price: Free

Following his release from Manchester City earlier this week, coupled with a phenomenal season on loan at Everton, Gareth Barry has been linked with a free move to a number of clubs, including Arsenal, Everton and of course, ourselves.

Despite dropping down the pecking order at Manchester City, Barry had the opportunity to prove that he has the ability to play week in, week out, at an impressive level, during his season on at loan at the impressive Everton.

Gareth Barry is a no-nonsense, old fashioned defensive midfielder, who, despite losing the mobility which earned him a £12 Million move to Manchester, continues to perform well playing solely just in front of the back four. Last season, he was partnered with James McCarthy in a defensive two behind an attacking three. Seemingly the same role which Sandro and Etienne Capoue have played for us this season, however with the latter linked with moves away from the club, Barry could potentially play back-up to Sandro, and on a free transfer this move would have Daniel Levy written all over it.

Alvaro Morata Club: Real Madrid Position: Striker Estimated Price: ~£12 Million

Tottenham to deal with Real Madrid for the third season in a row? Who are they going to sign now, Hugo Lloris? Jan Vertonghen? No, this time we’re interested in one of their players, specifically young Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata.

Morata first burst onto the scene with Real Madrid’s first team during the 2012/13 season, scoring twice in only five La Liga appearances, whilst notching 11 goals in 12 games in the second division of Spain for Real Madrid Castilla. However, following that, he was really expected to push on this season and press Karim Benzema for the main striking role in the Real Madrid side, however Morata has failed to do so and has now been restricted to just 3 starts in La Liga this term.

Despite being linked with Arsenal quite heavily, we have reportedly reaffirmed our interested in the young Spaniard, and with our links with Real Madrid, we should have the leverage to pull off this deal, let’s hope it goes better than our last Spanish import!

Alvaro Vadillo Club: Real Betis Position: Winger Estimated Price: £8 Million

Following Real Betis’ relegation from La Liga, we have been linked with a move for their young winger, Alvaro Vadillo, of who we were credited with an interest in last Summer, yet at the time chose against pursuing. And what better time, than to return for the young winger, who Betis may be eager to let loose in order to raise some funds following their drop into the Second division of Spanish football.

He suffered a disappointing season, where he has only managed 17 games in La Liga, where only 13 where starts, with him notching only one goal and assisting two more. A team, as a whole, now low in confidence clearly affected the youngster; however his agility and dribbling abilities where prominent, as he continues to be dubbed the next Cristiano Ronaldo.

With Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela all linked with moves away over the summer, a young, exciting winger would be a phenomenal addition to the ranks, as we continue to attempt to fill the left hand sided void left behind by a certain Welshman...

Poch will be an unmitigated disaster. Surely Frank de Boer is the obvious choice!
