The Big e-Spurs Preview - Everton vs. Tottenham

Spurs travel to Goodison Park in fine form, off the back of two wins over the Christmas period, while their Mersyside rivals suffered a home defeat to Stoke last time out which leaves them sitting firmly in mid-table.

How they must envy the consistency of Spurs. Consistency, the best defence in the Premier League, and a ruthless streak that's swept them into the top four and even spawned title talk.

There are a few rumblings of discontent at Goodison. The sort that come with having won just one of the last six league games.

Ricky's View

Goodison Park is always a tough place to go, however with our aspirations & with the current run of form the team is on there is no reason why we can't go there with the ambition to take all three points.

Keeping Lukaku quiet will be pivotal in us getting a positive result at Everton, so let's hope the formidable partnership of his Belgium compatriots Vertonghen & Alderweireld can shut him out.

Jon's View

Everton secured a scarcely deserved victory at Newcastle on Boxing Day and followed that up with a defensive horror show vs Stoke at Goodison Park. Meanwhile Spurs picked up 9 points from our last 3 games and conceded just one, whilst scoring 7 during that time.

All things point to an away win for me, having finally shrugged off our 'Doctor Tottenham' moniker given to us for assisting teams short of form and confidence last season, I can see us coming back to N17 with all 3 points.

I predict a 2-3 win for Tottenham. COYS!

Jason's View

We’ve beaten Everton 22 times in PL, more than any other side. Everton have won just 8 of the 47 meetings. Our PL record at Goodison is also good, W8, D10, L5.

The battle of the Belgians, Jan & Toby v Lukaku will obviously be a key battle, and Everton with Barkley, Baines & Deulofeu will create chances, but Martinez teams not known for being defensively strong, or well organised, and I fancy us to win this one 3-1 if we play anywhere near our capabilities.
