What on earth is Pochettino doing to our club?

Second most goals scored in the league; least goals conceded; the youngest squad in the premier league, and a goal difference at Christmas of +17. It sparks the question on many Spurs' fans lips.. What on earth is Pochettino doing to our club?

Article by James Forster

We are playing good consistent football. The Newcastle game showed signs of complacency, but instead of dwelling on it and losing momentum, we have bounced back with two wins. It's shown tremendous character and leadership within this young team.

Tottenham teams of recent years have be known for comical defending, farcical mistakes and slip ups. Pochettino has transformed this. Toby and Jan provide the key to a mean defence, one which is no longer terrorised by a striker like Aguero - they are commanding, look assured and boss their area of the pitch.

Spurs were also infamously known for being a bit soft - Roy Keane commented in his autobiography of a time in the United dressing room before they played Spurs. Sir Alex Ferguson's team talk consisted of one short sentence: " Lads, it's Tottenham." With Spurs being so close to my heart, it hurt reading of my club being spoken about like that.

However, Pochettino's Spurs are a different machine altogether. No longer do we roll over for the big teams or have a soft core. Every player has each other's backs; they stand up for each other. We have players like Alli and Lamela who have a bit of bite and nastiness to them - I love seeing that. We have leaders in the team and every player seems to battle for the famous cockerel on the front of their shirts. As Dier said earlier this season, they believe in themselves, they're not scared of the big teams.

Another asset Pochettino's brought to the club is his ability to individually improve players. Players such as Danny Rose, Eric Dier, and Erik Lamela have all flourished under his man management. The much maligned Danny Rose was ridiculed by our own a few seasons ago; now he's consistent and in contention for an England call up. Eric Dier has been converted into a defensive midfielder - not just filling a gap but thriving in the role. Erik Lamela is beginning to feel at home - the Spurs faithful have taken to him and appreciate him, something I think none of us foresaw after his first two dismal seasons. The improvement of these players are a real testament to Pochettino's man management ability.

He is bringing the football AVB promised, but failed to deliver. The swagger last seen under the management of Redknapp without the constant baggage that came through his outspokenness. He goes about his business quietly and doesn't draw unnecessary attention to the club - he handles the media well and is likeable. These qualities have helped him lead the team into a great position coming into 2016. Now it's up to Levy and the board to back him; support him in the transfer market and strengthen for the challenge in the new year.

It seems that Levy has finally found his man to lead this club forward. The majority of fans have taken to Pochettino - they love what he's doing. One thing we can do to show our appreciation is create a song for him. Let's show our gratitude and have his name sung throughout the stands - show him how much we believe in what he's doing.

We have a leader that's cool, calm and collected. It's clear to see what is being built and its exciting. I truly think we have a gem in our hands. Pochettino, all that you're doing for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, long may it continue.

    In Poch We Trust

  4. The most impressive Poch talent is saying EXACTLY the same in every interview:

"Need to improve ... get the right mentality ... work harder ... young team".

What else needs to be said, in fact?

Whatever he's doing lets hope he carries on doing it, lets also hope that Daniel Levy backs our man with some funds in the transfer window.

We have a great young team that can get stronger, so let's hope that Poch is allowed to keep the team together and buy players who can add to the depth and strength. I wish we were out of the Europa Cup to concentrate on the League and Cup and not still have to worry about flying off midweek for games.

I like every bit of "THE ARTICLE" and what's posted so far but I just want to point out ONE THING. Poch seems to be adamant that we don't need anyone in January which is a bit worrying. This guy has loads of guts for a manager his age. So if we don't get any bodies in, I don't think it will be Levy's fault. Commenting on the issue of A.Townsend, D. Levy said 'It's up to Poch whether he wants him to stay or go. Also Poch over-ruled the Loan deal to some team in France. There's also the small issue of Adebayor. No manager has ever managed to get D.Levy to pay a player so much (100K/week) just to leave the camp in peace. So on those fronts I think Poch has a lot to say about whether we buy players in January or not than Levy. Seems he unlike previous managers has the final say if not full control of signings as he stated after signing his 5 year deal with Spurs. That aside, it's not only exciting to be a Spurs fan but also, "THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT UNDER POCH" especially if we manage to hold onto Hugo Lloris next year.
