Are Spurs about to go on a La Liga spending spree?

Article by e-Spurs writer Mark Viales (Gibraltar)

Fringe players of the giants are on the agenda these days for Spurs as there is cause to believe that some La Liga fruits are ripe for the picking.

The Spanish rumour mill has it that Higuain, Christian Tello, David Villa amongst others, are all available this summer with Spurs set to strike some bargains:

David Villa:

Barcelona would be prepared to sell David Villa to Tottenham if their €14 million valuation is met, although Spurs value the 31-year-old at nearer to the €8.5 million mark according to Marca. Villa may not have forced his way into Tito Villanova’s plans, although this does not take away from the fact that he is a complete forward as well as a World Cup winner. The 31 year old is also in the latter stages of his career but would you miss out on the chance of having this little fella curling a sweet strike into the top corner in the sublime way he consistently does?

Transfer Possibility: 7/10

Cristian Tello:

Here we have a youngster with the brightest of futures ahead of him. At only 21 he has already forced his way into the Barca side as well as the Spanish national side at various levels. Liverpool seem to be the strongest club linked with them along with us, although you would like to think that the promising youngster would choose Spurs, especially if we can offer Champions League football.
This seems a strange one to me, Barca are living dangerously with the fact that a €10 million release clause looms over his contract. This would be an absolute steal for a young player of such calibre, he has pace, vision and can finish with deadly precision.

Transfer Possibility: 7/10

Gonzalo Higuain:

This player needs no introduction with the goals to game ratio he as magnificently displayed throughout his career, having said that, it seems that his time at the Bernabeu may be about to end. Higuain has fallen down the pecking order and with his class, regular football is a must.
I would love this guy at the lane! His strength and hold up play are ideal for the premiership not to mention his link up play and clinical finishing.
Higuain would make a perfect match for our system and I believe that with this player our good build up play, which regularly remains unfinished, would be clinically completed by his all round play.

Transfer Possibility: 6/10

I would like tello, have seen him a couple of times this season and he has potential to be amongst the best and even now he is probably of level of some of our players.

Villa isnt the player of 2-3 years ago and is injury-prone. Massive wages even if we get him cheap - no thanks. But we have to buy a quality forward (or two) - I cant see Tello stepping down to Spurs at his age. Higuain on the other hand is of an age when he knows that he wont get another very-top club and he's got enough in the tank for 2-3 good seasons at least. The move would suit him and us. Levy - blow the dust off the cheque book and act decisively for once. Its not ALWAYS about getting a last-minute knock-off deal!

we need more competition for places. Eriksen, Higuain, Sergi Roberto, Coentrao, Son. That would give us the strength to compete both domestically and in europe. lets see more of our under 21 'champions' as well
