Tottenham Hotspur Vs. Aston Villa - Monday November 2nd, 2015, KO, 20:00
After the sacking of Tim Sherwood a week ago, Aston Villa once again find themselves in a precarious period of transition- a feeling that their loyal supporters are all too familiar with. After a close run defeat to Southampton in midweek, which saw the Villains exit the Capital One Cup at the second hurdle, the Villa faithful will be hoping for a much needed three points against the Lilywhites.
Tottenham on the other hand find themselves in decent shape- buoyed by the return to goal-scoring form of Harry Kane, off the back of a 5-1 victory at Bournemouth and unbeaten since a 1-0 reverse on the opening day at Old Trafford, there is a sure sense of optimism surrounding the ambitions for this sefason. As Chelsea continue to stutter, and Manchester United look far from untouchable, Spurs’ top four hopes remain realistic after an opening to the season which has shown good character and resilience.
Defensively, Tottenham have looked strong, with their Belgian central defensive partnership starting extremely well. Kyle Walker has cut out many of the mistakes which hampered his improvement during last campaign, and Danny Rose has regained his form to take back his left-back position from Welshman Ben Davies. In midfield, everything seems to be clicking; Eric Dier has assumed the position of ball-winning midfielder, while supplementing the attacking willingness of young Delli Alli.
Dembele has rewarded his manager’s selection faith and Eriksen seems to be returning to the form that touted him as one of Europe’s rising stars. With Erik Lamela in the best form of his Spurs career and Harry Kane off the back of his hat trick at hapless Bournemouth, Monday promises to be a tough evening for the visitors from the West Midlands.
After suffering a 0-1 reverse in the same fixture last season, Spurs fans will certainly home that this fixture won’t be ‘one of those games’- it looks as if Pochettino’s young charges are in no mood to falter, and with three London derbies in a row following Villa’s visit, it is important that we don’t add pressure to those tough games.

Key Battles:
How Jan and Toby deal with the pace of Gabriel Agbonlahor will certainly be interesting. Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards will no doubt relish a physical battle with Harry Kane- with both players enjoying an old fashioned physical duel.
Villa’s one to watch:
If Villa start with summer signing Rudy Gestede up front, it is important that Tottenham deal with long balls, and the second balls which the target-man may provide. If the former Barcelona youngster Adama Traore is given a chance, he is capable of producing an eye-catching performance.
Predicted Spurs XI:

Vertonghen
Rose
