The Big e-Spurs Preview - Manchester City vs. Tottenham

Something that isn't for debate at the moment is how well Spurs are playing. We've not lost a league away game since we were last in Manchester, at United on the opening day - the first of four games without a win to start the season! As the song from the musical Seesaw goes - 'It's not where you start, it's where you finish', but are Spurs really 'gonna finish on top'?!

View of the e-Spurs Podcast Team

Jason's View

I’ll start by giving full praise and due credit to the team. After the Leicester defeat, I said to give us any chance of the title, we had to pick up 12 points from the next 4 games, and we’ve done just that. That is the opposite to being “Spursy”. And so , we move on to a very big and exciting weekend, one I’m sure we’re all looking forward too.

In terms of the title race, the bigger game is at the Scumirates. It’s impossible to look at the weekend without taking that game into account. If Leicester can repeat their City showing, they will go 8 points clear before we kick off, and will then have already been to Spurs, City, Arsenal. Certainly when you look at the run-in’s Leicester have the easiest of the lot, and of course, no cup or European distractions. If they do win, regardless of our City result, they will be tough to catch! They would need to lost 3 or 4 of their remaining 12 games!!! As I said on this weeks podcast, they can handle pressure. They did it to come up as Champions 2 years ago, they did it to win 7 of their last 9 last season to stay up. An Arsenal win makes our game at City less pressurised, as the leader would still only be 5 points in front of us even if we lost on Sunday.

2 key players at City. Augero has almost owned us since being there. No disgrace in that, and he is my favourite non-Spurs PL player. The other is Kompany, as he provides the stability and organisation City have badly lacked in his absence.

- City With Kompany - P9, W7, Goals Against 2, Clean Sheets 7
- Without Company - P16, W7, Goals Against 24, Clean Sheets 3.

Pellegrini confirmed this week that Kompany will be back. Whether this is too early to bring the player back in remains to be seen.

One thing is for certain, on the back of a 3-1 home defeat, the last thing they will want is Spurs going there, unbeaten away since the opening day, and 4-1 winners of the earlier season fixture. The team line-up will be very interesting. We’ll see what I am sure Poch considers his very best team (Vertonghen’s injury excepted), the full back choices will be particularly interesting, as will the choice of Son, or Lamela, or Chadli.

Another great stat, is City have yet to beat any side currently in the top-6. P7, D3, L4. Omens are good.

TO DARE IS TO DO!
