They Have Got To Be *idding Us!

Article by Philip Rowlands

Has this country gone completely bonkers? The Politically Correct Party seem to have more power than the Prime Minister. What happened to Common Sense?

I have been a Spurs fan for over 50 years and have never felt so angry about anything Spurs related as I do now. Three fans arrested at their own ground for using the term ‘Y**’ which apparently falls into the category of ‘threatening, abusive or insulting words’. It gets even ‘better’. One of the fans was arrested for using ‘bad’ language.

What, bad language at a football match, really? There must be hundreds and thousands of fans around the country in danger of having their front door kicked in by the police.

Don’t you lot at the FA get it? It’s about IDENTITY not ABUSE.

Tottenham fans have always used the Y word as a form of identity and indeed defiance. It’s a term of pride. It’s when you take something hateful and turn it into something positive. You know, like the Christian cross. An instrument of torture that is now a universal symbol of Hope and Forgiveness for millions.

As an older fan from the Welsh Valleys I have little reason to love the Tory Government but at least David Cameron talked some sense when he tried to put the whole thing into context. CONTEXT – it’s all about CONTEXT and MOTIVATION.

When I stand in a crowd of Tottenham supporters shouting the term ‘Y****’ I am not trying to offend anyone. I am showing my willingness to be identified as one with them despite the abuse that might be directed at me.

If the governing bodies of football really want to make a positive impact they don’t have to look very far to find one. Take the case of the Israeli footballer allegedly dropped from his team because it would have been politically insensitive given the opposition. Or is that to much like dealing with real life.

What did you expect from a country where a radical left minority control us via the PC sucking media and not ONE politician has the guts to stand up and FIGHT for the right of free speech. 1984 has been with us for almost a decade and we don't even realise it.
Contrast the "yid" term with making a sexual slave of a 12 yo girl and then saying it was her fault as she was offensive to his culture. Gutless politicians and prejudiced media. alow this sot of thing to burst into flames.

If context doesn't matter then why has David Baddiel not been arrested for using the word? Why has the news reporter on 5 live who used the word not been arrested? Not to mention the countless other examples I'm sure there are of the word being used on recorded media. Why aren't the black artists who constantly use the N-word not arrested? This is selective justice which is worse than injustice.
