The Big e-Spurs Preview: Tottenham vs West Ham

West Ham make their last league visit to the current White Hart Lane on Saturday in their annual cup final. Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs go into this pre-Christmas stretch with the top of the table just five points above them, yet all is not quite as rosy as it seems in the Tottenham garden.

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United - White Hart Lane
Kick-off: 5.30pm GMT Saturday

They may be unbeaten, but Spurs failed to win any of their seven matches in all competitions in October, drawing four times in the league and recording two defeats and a draw in cup competitions.

The Hammers have won just one of their last 15 league matches at the Lane, but have enjoyed a relatively successful time of things at the ground in recent years, picking up that lone victory and a further draw in the past three league visits.

However, dealing with the attacking threat of Spurs striker Harry Kane has also been a problem for the Hammers in recent memory, with the England forward scoring three goals in his last three games against the London rivals. And West Ham have been warned that Kane may be ready to start only his second league game in two months after shaking off an injury.

Poch Says...

On Lloris and Kane: "They're very happy to be here and we are happy they're here."

Goalkeeper and captain Lloris, 29, has also yet to extend his deal, which ends in 2019.

"Maybe there are a lot of rumours that can affect our fans but the fans need to have no worries because the players show their commitment to the club - they want to be here for the long term," continued the manager.

"I think the club and the players are talking about maybe improving or having extended contracts. In the future I think it's not a big problem to do."

What are the odds?*

Tottenham – 4/7
West Ham - 9/2
Draw - 16/5

The Stat Attack

- Christian Eriksen hasn't scored with any of his last 61 shots in the Premier League since scoring against Bournemouth in March 2016.

- Harry Kane has scored three times in two previous home league games against the Hammers for Spurs.

- This is Spurs' longest winless run in all competitions (D5 L2) since May 2004, in which they went eight without a victory.

Teams News - Tottenham

Tottenham are nursing an injury headache heading into Saturday’s derby with no fewer than eight team players either sidelined or nursing injury.

Pochettino confirmed on Thursday that Toby Alderweireld (knee) Erik Lamela (hip) and Ben Davies (ankle) are ruled out, while Dele Alli remains doubtful for the match with a minor knee complaint.

Moussa Sissoko will be available for selection however having served his three-man ban following a violent conduct charge. Rose and Vertonghen are both a booking away from a one-match suspension.

Teams News - West Ham

West Ham predicament is equally as concerning. Defenders James Collins (calf) and Winston Reid (hamstring) are doubts for the match, while striker Diafra Sakho (back) is still unlikely to return. Captain Mark Noble is also suspended.

Sam Byram (hamstring), Andy Carroll (knee), Gokhan Tore (thigh) and Reece Oxford (ankle) are also sidelined.

Our prediction: Tottenham 1-0 West Ham
