Watching the Brazil-Japan game last night, I couldn’t help but feel we were watching ‘Daniel Levy’s shopping list’. While it is impossible to argue the quality of most Brazilians, I can’t help but feel bringing players from such a different League, with such a different mindset, could be a risk.
Yes, we have the mighty Sandro who has adapted to England fantastically, but I recall at the start he wasn’t the world class player he is now. Some of that, of course, is down to simple improvement with age, but the move from Brazil to England is such a dramatic change, both on the field and off.
When it comes to adapting to a new team, a new country, and a new way of life, it seems that there has been a high number of high profile cases in the Premier League where big names have failed to live up to their billing, players like Kezman, Shevchenko, Rebrov, Bosingwa, and Veron.
Yes, we all know it can be done. Oscar at Chelsea had a great season after making the move, but is he an exception that proves the rule.
On the other hand, what if they do adapt?
What if we can have Paulinho shoring up the middle with Sandro while also getting in on the goals?
What if Bernard can add that much needed ‘Modric’ flair to our line-up?
What if Leandro can bring his goals with him to the Premier League?
They could be the players that turn us into title contenders!
So, it excites me that we are being linked with all the Brazilians, but I just can’t shake off the feeling that they could be very expensive flops.
I truly hope I’m wrong.
What do you think of my strangely indecisive opinion? Does anyone else see the risk? Am I talking rubbish? Let me your comments below.

I don't think so, especially since we will have other Brazilians to help them and plus AVB is Portuguese (Portuguese Brazil's national language for those of you that don't know). f we end up buying two or three Brazilians, it will only help them settle more, and like mentioned, Sandro and AVB will be a big help, just look at Shakhtar Donetsk. The reason those players are unhappy and don't play well generally comes down to communication, sometimes the football style, but if you're good at football, YOU'RE GOOD AT FOOTBALL!! Doesn't matter which league you play in, take a look at Ibrahimovic, succesful in 4 major leagues, Ronaldo, EPL & La Liga, etc... Yea, the Prem is rough, suck it up. The more Brazilians and Portugues we have, the happier they will be, and the better the team will work together, especially after they learn to speak english proficiently. Think about this two, would you rather go to a club with a manager who speaks so other random language with other random players or go to the club who's manager speaks your native tongue fluently and that has other players from your very own country?........ You decide. And Brazilians tend not to be unsuccesful. I think that with Bernard, Damiao,Lamela, another striker and Sandro, Kaboul, Benny, Walker and Lennon fully fit and back to their best, we're challenging for the title next year, especially if they all get in a good pre-season with their teamates and AVB's style of play (so do you're business fast Levy or I swear to god I'll send Lord Sugar to gouge you're eyes out!!!!!).
ReplyDeleteLet's hope for the best. I'll sign off with a little poem I wrote:
In AVB we trust,
In Levy, try we must,
Tottenham 'till I die,
Tottenham 'till I die,
Until my body turns to dust.

I would love to have all three of them but this is levy we are talking about, he will make his move to late or other peanuts. its going to be a long disappointing summer im afraid.
ReplyDeleteIm just afraid that spurs sign one sh*tty striker again. Damiao is not coming. Benteke could be a flop and he is expensive if 30£. Aubameyang could be a good fit cause he can play up forward and on right wing. Paulinho and Bernard would be good fits. Bernard is short and weak player but he could be like Coutinho. Paulinho or someone else mf is a must or even 2 midfielders. I don't think that Huddlestone is good enough. Parker is a bit old and his best days are behind. Fredy Guarin has a good powerful shot and is all-arounder.
ReplyDeleteI think Tomas Brolin is the best player just now
