Is it Christmas in August?
Waking
up to find numerous messages in your email is sometimes great,
usually it is terrible as the majority of them consist of spam or
bills. Today is not such a day, today is a wonderful day as we have
announced the signing of Vlad ChricheÅŸ, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen. It’s kinda
funny as only a month ago, I didn’t want the “golden boy” to
leave as it may leave us with a large hole in our squad. Now, I will
gladly pay for his cab fare as he has basically funded one of the
most successful transfer windows in history. Not to mention how he
has missed training for the past 3 days and acted like a total child.
So to get back at him and his future employers, we have basically
decided to drag our feet in the transfer so that Arsenal or whoever
wants to buy some Madrid players are left with only hours to get
things in order. What a fantastic day this has turned out to be.
Back
to our newest signings, all will add depth and major amounts of
quality, especially in two areas that we were lacking. Vlad is a right-footed Jan
Vertonghen while Erik is a winger who loves to cut inside and score
great goals. To be honest, I really could not see how our window
could have gone any better. Maybe the next few days will lead to more
signings which would then feel like Boxing Day or Kwanza, if I
celebrated either.
Yesterday we finally got a real look at
two of our most promising playmakers yesterday in the Europa League
Playoff, Lewis Holtby and Tom Carroll. I was fortunate to get a
stream of the match and see first-hand how well Tom was able to
dictate play from deep while Lewis was more forward, playing in the
no. 10 role behind Defoe. Both of these two are very special and can
play integral parts to our squad while being able to bridge the
midfield and the forward line. I cannot wait to see more of them in
the upcoming matches. Great goal by Lewis and excellent vision by Tom
on numerous occasions, setting up Defoe and our wingers.
Post-Match
Thoughts
The
lads were magnificent yesterday. Nothing bad about them. I cannot
remember seeing anything terrible or troubling. Only a few misplaced
passes in the early stages as the squad needed to get used to the
pace of the match and the movement of their teammates. Great to see
Sandro play the full 90 and be his usual dominating self, doing all
the dirty work so that Tom and Lewis could run the show, creating
numerous opportunities for Andros, Gylfi and Jermaine. Really nothing
to report about the match except how well we played against lesser
opposition, but again, you can only beat who is in front of you.
One
Day Closer to the Reckoning
So
I see that Arsene has yet to open the purse strings but secured the
highly sought after free agent, Mathieu Flamini, beating out such
other glamour clubs such as Somewhereinrussia FC and AS
Godforsakenplace. Good move Wenger, I guess we will have to deal with
the fact that even after all the money spent on our numerous
signings, that we will still be in the black with the sale of a
certain Welshman. But you know, he is such a genius he can do what he
wants which includes sitting around while the rest of the world
catches up and surpasses him and his club full of tools and bozos.
Can’t wait to see how they cope with our physicality and speed this
coming Sunday. Also, they should be happy as at least they can sell
out that mostly empty stadium for the first time in God knows how
long. Who said we don’t give to our neighbours?
