e-Spurs Daily Editorial
Today's victory at the Stadium of Light not only represented the completion of a 7 point haul within 7 days, but more than that, it was a game where we created chances and, the first 30 minutes aside, we looked like a team wanting to kill off a game.
As AVB stalked the touchline with the scowl of an animal wounded by the press, Spurs set about maintaining their great away form this season.
Dembele - The Belgian international was a class apart this afternoon, dominating the midfield and brushing all around him aside as he surged towards the Sunderland box. When he plays with this passion and strength he has the beating of any midfield.
Kyle Walker - Our young England defender has put the graft in this week to not only answer his critics but also return to the sort of form that he enjoyed two seasons ago.
His pace is electrifying, his strength in the tackle is immense. With Lennon ahead of him we still have one of the best right sides in the Premier League when on form.
Holtby - This one is a special mention for the boy from Totten..... Germany. The lad plays as if he was born in Northumberland Park and every goal, every win is reacted to with the sort of emotion that you would associate more with the fan on the terraces. This boy has a lot of work to do but maybe, just maybe we have a little gem in our midst.
Today was important, not only for the win that pushes us within touching distance of second place, but the manner in which we won the game and the celebration of the Head Coach with his charges that followed the final whistle.
This is not a team of disillusioned players, playing against a coach on his way out, rather it is a team with great spirit and fight which, with a bit of luck and good guidance could just achieve this seasons aim of a top four finish and a place in the promised land of Champions League football. Maybe.
