The Big e-Spurs Preview - Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham

This weekend's opponents Crystal Palace have had their scoring problems of late - though the scoreline at Manchester City last weekend did them scant justice - however, some would argue that their lofty position in the table is worth as much praise as Spurs are getting.

How many people believed Alan Pardew could maintain the improvement he brought to Selhurst Park last season? I did. And I think he'll prove the current malaise is a mere blip.

Of course, Tottenham are in great form and our defensive record is superb.

What a good week it’s been for Super Spurs. After a week that some said was devastating, but was actually only disappointing, comes a week of elation, when in reality, we’ve beaten a bottom-3 side at home, and beaten a Premier League reserve team in the cup. But the manner of those performances, particularly the second halves was the most enjoyable. The noise of the fabulous support at Leicester, the visible enjoyment of the crowd, the social media response of all players concerned show just how special and important the FA Cup still is.

So we move on to Palace, traditionally a ‘difficult place to go’. It isn’t. It only is if you allow it to be!! They have won just 4 of their 11 home games, and lost 5. It’s so ‘difficult’, even Chelsea won 3-0 at Selhurst. Woolwich, City, West Ham and Sunderland have also won there, whilst Man U and Swansea have claimed a point. Nearly all of Palace’s stand out wins since Pardew has been there have come on their away travels. It’s very a much a game a genuine top-4 club should win, not easily, but win nevertheless.

They have gone 5 games without a goal in the PL, and Pardew seemed strangely genuinely happy with much of their performance in last week’s 4-0 loss at City. Yes, 4-0 defeat!!

With a few key players fully/partly rested, and with Son and Chadli scoring goals to add to the options available, I’m going for a 2-0 win. There will be times in the game which are frustrating, there will be a spell when we are under the cosh, but overall, we’ll have more of the ball, more of the chances, and most importantly, more of the goals!

Wasn’t it Neil Warnock that at the start of the season said he didn’t think any Spurs player would get in the Palace team !!!

After a couple of superb wins vs Sunderland in the league and Leicester in the FA Cup, Spurs should be full of confidence come Saturday when we face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

6 goals scored and only one conceded in those 2 has also seen the return to form of Christian Eriksen and a top notch goal and assist for Heung Min-Son. Palace have one win in 6, and have only scored twice in that time. Both of those goals came in the same afternoon, away at Southampton. So, we have a side who have failed to score in 5 of their last 6 games against the team with the best defence in the league. Only one winner, right?

I'm going with form here and I expect Spurs to leave Selhurst with all 3 points. A couple of goals and a clean sheet should make for the perfect afternoon. Palace 0 Spurs 2. COYS!!
