Objectives set for Champions League race

In the latest of his articles exclusively for e-Spurs, Marc Ashed (@MarcAron22) looks ahead to our final 8 fixtures and what it will take to secure a lucrative top 4 spot.

Andre Villas Boas has come out and set his goals for the last 8 games.

In the Daily Mail, AVB was quoted as saying, '70 is usually enough to be in the four spots. There are 24 points to be played for so that means we need 16 more points. You never know, but I think at this time we are within our objectives.'

AVB Wants 70 Points
Let's take a closer look at the remaining 8 games and how we can get those 16 points.

Swansea--previous result 1-0 on a Jan Vertonghen goal.

Everton--They will be missing Pienaar and Fellaini for this very important duel and anything less than a win against them will be a huge disappointment.

Wigan--We lost to Wigan earlier in the season and they are notoriously hot at the end of the campaign.

Southampton--Jekyl and Hyde. They lose to QPR one week and then beat Liverpool 3-1 the next. They play better at home so playing it at White Hart Lane will help.

Stoke-- We drew with Stoke earlier this campaign as Gylfi Sigurdsson was robbed in the dying moments following a glancing header to the far post. Stoke has not been the same team defensively in the 2nd that they were in the 1st and I am confident despite it being an away match at the Brittania.

Sunderland--Sunderland will be missing Steven Fletcher and most of their goals for the rest of the season. Our first game was tight but a great individual play by Aaron Lennon won the fixture.

Wins in all of those games will be 18 points.

We also play 2 fellow top 4 teams in our last 8. If we can earn some points against the fellow top 4 teams then we will be in great shape.

Man City-- We unjustly lost to them as Edin Dzeko scored a late goal to defeat us 2-1 earlier this season, this will be a very good, tightly played game.

Chelsea--AVB's return to Stamford Bridge will be a high profile match as well. Last game was a tale of two halves and Kyle Walker's error sealed our fate.

AVB has set our goals, 16 more points, we have the squad to do it and the leader to make it happen. Champions League qualification next year will push us years ahead in our project to be Premier League title contenders. Buckle up, every minute of every game will be a nail biter. Onwards and upwards!

deluded spuds. Beat stoke away? Wigan away? Everton home? Swansea away? Lol.

Remember last year and your easy run in? You couldnt beat norwich at home and just lost to fulham at home yet you think you will get 6 wins out of 8.
