Ladies and gentlemen of the jury...
Currently under scrutiny and standing accused of the heinous crime of a part time trier, I bring to you the case of Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor.
With the summer transfer window looming (the one i argue that could shape the fortunes of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club for years to come), the position of our front line is our main priory, and one that we cannot afford to pass us by.
Occupying one of these positions is the man in question - Emmanuel Adebayor
So therefore I bring to the table for debate that we either stick, twist or count our losses and move on to a younger model. The argument certainly favours the latter. A season that has only produced 5 goals, an early season period of stern face bench warming and adding to the AWOL episode after the African Cup of Nations, the arguments don't exactly stand highly in his favour. But lets throw some petrol on the fire. Is this a case of the misunderstood?
There is no doubt that the man has talent, last season pays testimony to that. When in form he gives us a striker, not since the days of Berbatov, that can lead the line either as a support link or holding centre forward. We all tear our hair out about the lack of a shift he appears to put in each game, but could this be a case of new manager and new tactics that hasn't allowed the same freedom that was once permitted under the caviller approach under Harry Repknapp. If he has been asked to play a certain way by Villa Boas which is more zonal and holding his position, my argument I'm throwing out there is he being pole
axed by us all for just obeying orders for the good of the team??
I myself think this is a typical example of a player that needs constant motivation by those around him to perform. I question if he can stir the fire in his own belly and produce performances and desire not during the good times but also the bad. The trouble is I fear we haven't the time to find out. If by fortune we manage to keep Bale for next season we need our strikers firing on all cylinders from the off, not with 2 games to go with our own destiny out of our hands.
There is an old saying don't bite the hand that feeds you, maybe that's what
we have experienced here

"HOW DO YOU SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE EMMANUEL?" With a shotgun!
ReplyDeleteGet him out and off the wage bill ASAP!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think Adebayor should be given another chance. He has had one good season and one poor for Spurs. In the poor season last year he missed pre-season and was away for the African Cup. Both disrupted his season. I also think that playing for Togo had a big negative emotional impact on him because of his previous awful experience with the team bus being attacked and his friends being killed. Neither of these things apply this year.
ReplyDeleteTear up his passport and plant anti government propaganda in his luggage and let the Chinese authorities deal with him.
ReplyDeleteThis article has a point - Ade at his best is certainly good enough for us, but his problem seems to be of mental character and lack of motivation and willingness to be winner.
ReplyDeleteAdebayor has the talent but showed little motivation for the team until the end and that is not when you need you striker to be at his best. You need him to be striving for success every game not every now and then.
ReplyDeleteMake sure he has a good pre season make him feel invaluable then get another 18 league goals and 12 assists like he got in his first season which NO Spurs striker has got in 20 years.
ReplyDeleteGet someone to kneecap him and claim off the insurance and buy anyone who doesn't look a Pepperami
