Welcome back to the Daily dose and all things Spurs.
Today we had our first game at White Hart Lane for the season, Bale talk has been rife, attention centres around Hulk to Spurs and a Romanian starlet is set to join.
Penalties Galore
A trend is now setting in at Spurs as we are actually being awarded penalties this season as opposed to the 2 year drought us fans have had to suffer through.
A friend of mine (Barca fan) was telling me how he always thought I had my Spurs blinkers on when I would cry out screaming at the TV in nonsensical gibberish and eventually turn to him and say, "You see! Every f**king time!"and when Townsend was upended, clearly I must add, in the box, I was once again fuming at the decision to award a free kick just outside the area…he finally agreed with me that, after watching numerous Spurs games last season, we are indeed very unlucky when it comes to being awarded penalties…certainly
no shortage of this found at the Camp Nou.
So Soldado scores another penalty without having any other impact whatsoever. If he does that every match, I won't complain one bit. In the context of the game itself there was too much space left between the midfield and the striker, consequently leaving him extremely isolated and subsequently outnumbered…essentially he was marked out of the game, but don't worry, there is more to come from him.
Andros was MOTM for me, running the defence ragged every chance he could get. He looks like he could go from strength to strength here.
Our central midfield pairing of Capou and Paulinho was, how can I put this delicately, absolutely dominating! The broke up all play, covering each other with an eerie, telepathic
understanding of each other.
All in all it was quite a solid performance without ever really enthralling us. If Bale leaves, this game might have told us that we need an incisive, creative midfielder to play behind Soldado, however, some could easily argue that we already possess this kind of personnel in our ranks with Dembele, although slightly off today, as well as Holtby and Sigurdson.
Latest Transfer Ramblings
Chiriches' move to Spurs seems back on for a reported £8.5m deal, although we can never
be sure these days at the lane, with Cheski spies lurking in the shadows, tempting poor old AVB targets with untold riches, poisoned with words of promised heights, when the reality will be bench warming.
Roma's coach Rudi Garcia has been doing everything in his power to hang on to his prized asset Erik Lamela. He has included him in the squad to play against Livorno, albeit on the substitutes bench. Could this mean that his head is not right at the moment?
Bale has been allegedly spotted in Marbella sparking almost identical Paparazzi images from earlier in the summer…I think we all are quite exasperated by the proceedings, with Real Madrid using all the gutter tactics they have grown famous for and the English press annoyingly jumping on the bandwagon with rehashed versions of the Spanish media. I, like many others, would be quite happy for it to be all over ASAP, regardless of the outcome.
A romantic reunion could be in store as AVB's love story sequel with "The Incredible Hulk Brasileiro", that never quite materialises, comes to fruition under the Spurs flag. Reports suggest that the fee could be in the region of our seemingly favoured £30m figure, although the fact that the Russian oil tycoons spent substantial amount more than that, could mean that this is merely old news once again been regurgitated.
So a decent performance and more importantly 3 points and maximum from our first two games. It's looking increasingly likely that Bale will be heading for pastures new and although I, as many other fans feel, am totally gutted at seeing him go when he could have undoubtedly gone on to become the greatest ever Spurs player, I can only wish him the best of luck in the future, so long as it is not against us.
Remember, with or without Bale, this season THE MIGHTY SPURS are STRONGER!

I agree that we do need a play maker to increase attacking options but I wonder what the masses would have said had we put away the opportunities presented to us. First up against Palace, as I recall apart from the penalty, we had 4 gilt edge chances right in front of goal, Gylfi(2 tap in's), Chadli(1 free header) and Defoe(1 off target shot when clear through). The final score could easily have been 5-0. Again today, it could easily have been 3-0. However, the most pleasing thing is that we are winning albeit without setting the world on fire in doing so and at the same time looking a much more solid and robust outfit than I've seen in a long long time particularly that this is a new team with new faces. It will get better and better as time goes on. The future is extremely bright even if Bale leaves us this year and if we actually manage to buy Erik Lamela who knows what this team could achieve.
