AVB VALUES last Year’s European Experience, Eriksen Elated after Opening Spurs Account and Injury Updates.
AVB VALUES last Year’s European Experience:
Andre Villas-Boas believes that last year’s experience of playing on Thursdays and Sundays will serve them well during a packed fixture list.
AVB intends to challenge on all fronts this campaign and through shrewd recruiting they now have a depth in quality that will allow them to do so.
The Portuguese tactician said:
“Now the fixtures start coming. We have the experience of playing on Thursday and on Sunday from last season, which is good. That can serve us well this season.
The main thing now is to get a good result in
They have a stadium full of emotion and atmosphere and they are a very competitive side, so we need to be aware of their strengths and hopefully go there and achieve a great result.”
Eriksen Elated after Opening Spurs Account:
Christian Eriksen reflected on his goal scoring exploits in the Europa League on Thursday following a sensationally curled strike into the top corner.
The shot came after he dropped his shoulder to leave his marker for dead and then curved his foot around the ball to give it a wicked spin and trajectory away from the keeper.
He said: “I’m really happy about it. A goal like that in just my second game is something I can only dream of.
A goal like that is not often something that happens in a game, more often in training! I was happy to see it go in.
We scored at the most important moments. Jermain’s goals in the first half really took the pressure off. That made it easy for us.
Injury Updates:
Danny Rose is unlikely to feature against
Younes Kaboul injured his abductor and Mousa Dembele hurt his ankle in the 3 – 0 win against the Norwegian side, although AVB feels positive on their availability for the weekend.
Nacer Chadli is also suffering from an abductor injury and is deemed doubtful, however defender Vlad Chiriches could make his debut against
Romanian International May Move to
Ciprian Marica is close to revealing which club he will sign for in the near future after speculation over a possible move to the Premier League.
The Romanian international, who is a free agent, is said to be tracked by several top clubs including Spurs and Arsenal.
Marica has an impressive goal scoring record for his country with 22 goals in 64 appearances and could prove to be decent back up should one of Defoe or Abdebayor leave.
When the front man spoke on the decision on which club he will join, he said:
“I am in negotiations with three teams.
I hope I will be able to tell you the name of my next team by the end of next week.”
