Efficiency people!
Good evening everyone. We will keep this dose pretty concise and to the point as work has been quite hectic and right now, I am hiding in one of the lesser used labs to write this up. So, we have a match today against some friends from the Arctic Circle, Tromsø, Vlad Chircheş work permit has finally arrived, a certain almost Spurs player contributed nothing to his sides defeat in the Champions League and our third kit came out today.
Frickin Freezing
Up Here!
First off, I gotta give credit to our
opponents in the first match of this year’s Europa League group
stage after our 3-0 victory tonight, Tromsø, as they are the most northern top flight club in the
world. The city is the seventh largest in Norway and is located 215
miles north of the Arctic Circle, but the area actually stays not as
cold as one would think thanks to the Gulf Stream. Regardless, it is
frickin freezing up there, so cold in fact the club plays in a
stadium with artificial turf. The club, Tromsø IL, is currently
sitting in 13th place, one place above the relegation
play-off place so needless to say, they may have other concerns than
continuing their European adventure. Not that we took them
lightly but we had the firepower to overrun them and it was good to give some squad players a run out.
Learner’s
Permit
So the big news of today is that one of our
newest signings, Vlad Chiricheş, has finally been granted a work
permit. It still boggles the hell out of my mind how this has been
allowed to drag on for close to three weeks while certain other
players can get them in a day or two. Life is funny when one doesn’t
have a rich Russian pulling strings. I hope to see him play some part
in Sunday’s match and Tuesday’s match against Aston Villa in the
Capital One Cup. The kid is class, just wait and see.
Willian, It Was
Really Nothing
Not the awesome Smith’s song, but your debut at
Bridge, it was really nothing and that is being nice. Not
contributing much to a team that really could not find their way
through a resolute Basel side, huffing and puffing yet unable to
actually knock down the door. This is why I love football so much, to
see a money grabber do little to anything for his new club except
collect wages. I think many Tottenham supporters will agree with me
here when I say that the best part of the whole match yesterday was
when Willian was being replaced, the crowd came to life. Willian, not
being the sharpest knife in the drawer, thought it was a standing
ovation for him so he took his time leaving the field of play. Little
did he know that it was for the man who was going to be replacing
him, a certain super talented Spaniard, Juan Mata. Oh boy, that was
so wonderful to watch. Can someone say “irony”? Because I can say
“overpriced Brazilian benchwarmer”.
Looking Sharp
Boys
Our third kit was released this morning and
although the images were leaked a few times over the past 2 weeks, it
was a welcome addition to our already fashionable line of kits. This
may the one that I prefer over the others. Not that I have anything
against our home and away, but this one is mega sharp and would look
great with a nice pair of jeans and some classy loafers. Great job,
Tottenham.
In Other News
The “Yid” debate
continues with some comedian, David Baddiel, throwing his opinion
into the discussion. He says that it is a racist term and that even
though we are using it in a way which should diffuse the meaning of
the word, we are still wrong. Hey David, how bout you stick to comedy
instead of putting your two cents into an actual intelligent debate?
I like how a Jewish Tottenham supporter wrote a letter to David about
the term and the crap that he has to deal with being a Jewish man
when visiting the ground of Stanford Bridge, Upton Park or Elland
Road. Great letter which sticks it right to Mr. Baddiel.
We are being linked to Fernando Llorente, again.
The reasons? Nothing more than him not being match fit yet as he had
an injury filled campaign last term and him not featuring for
Juventus yet. I seriously doubt that he would leave the “Old Lady
of Italy” to come to Tottenham as one is a constant player in the
Champions League and the favourites for the Scudetto and our beloved
Spurs are a challenger for the CL spots and a possible dark-horse
candidate for silverware. Non story so I am done talking about it.
