Tottenham Hotspur v Tromso Preview

Article by Johnny Murwill

While the majority of Spurs fans may hold little love for the Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur’s first game against Norwegian side Tromso has generated some excitement, given that it provides the chance for fans to see more of their summer signings. While Aaron Lennon, Nacer Chadli and Vlad Chiriches will miss out, the game provides an opportunity for the likes of Eric Lamela and Roberto Soldado to showcase their skills, albeit against unknown opposition.

AVB is likely to stay true to his philosophy of fielding strong teams in the Europa League, although changes in midfield and defence are likely. It is Tromso’s first appearance in the Europa League since the 2005-06 season, and are seen as huge underdogs in the first game of group K, with some bookies placing them at 33/1 to come away with a win.

Possible Line-Ups

Younes Kaboul could replace Jan Vertonghen and be given a chance to improve and prove his fitness, while AVB has hinted that Erik Lamela could be in for his first start.
