Is real football back yet?

God, these International breaks stink. To be 100% honest, I really cannot give a damn about these match-ups as my two preferred countries, USA and Italy, are almost locks to be in their respective final tournaments, year in and year out. Meanwhile, I have to figure out how to deal with the fact that I was given a small taste of club football, yet am still starving for some real sustenance.

Tottenham’s Internationals

Basically, we have a lot of players who are major contributors and influential figures on their respective national sides. 12 of our first team and 4 of our youth squad have been called up and I am praying, just like every other Tottenham supporter, that they return back to Enfield without so much as a scratch on them. It seems our players have a nasty habit of picking up niggling injuries while out on international duty which then forces our club to wait to be able to field a full squad. These breaks, especially the one after the close of the transfer window, are uncalled for and can actually do more harm than good for the club team as instead of learning the ins and outs of the new club and how to play in the team, they go off and play in system that may be radically different from the one that their parent club employs. Oh well, I guess I will have actually start listening, or pretending to listen, to what my better half has to say as I’m sure she has many choice words for me, most of which I cannot repeat as they are definitely not for the faint of heart.

Final Transfer Window Recap

We did great. We moved one full time starter and replaced him with almost an entire new squad, giving us flexibility and depth. I cannot see any negatives here as no longer will we be called a one man team, until Coco Lamela or Bobby Soldier start running things, and now instead of the opposition focusing on one superstar to contain, they will be forced to alter the game plan to defend a whole squad capable of the sublime in an instant. We had to part with a few players who I really enjoyed watching, a couple of solid role players, and a few more that had served their purpose, but were past their expiration date. It will take time for us to develop a new playing style and for the new players to learn how to work with their teammates, but it will be wonderful to watch when we start to click. Overall, an A+ effort.

In The News

Reports say that Daniel Levy tried to block the Ozil move. To this I say, who gives a crap. Let them sell a player, who they deemed surplus, for a large amount of cash, to a squad and a fan base so fickle that within a few weeks, the calling for their manager’s head will return and those dreaded plastic bags will again show up at the library. Enjoy it guys, just don’t cry when he goes to City next year.

Mourinho convinced Willian to come to Chelsea. So, the extra money offered by a club oozing with playmakers didn’t have anything to do with it? How’d that last move of yours go, Willian? You know, the one where you moved to one of the most dangerous areas in the world specifically for money, ahem, glory? Right, it went well as you made less than 20 appearances before figuring out that maybe you shouldn’t have left Shakhtar. Whatever helps you sleep at night on your huge pillow, bud. I swear, it is like an orange on a toothpick that friggin noggin! I’m sure in January, you and your team of cronies (agents) will be looking for a way out….again.

Due to our involvement in the Europa League, some of our fixtures have changed. The ones that follow our European matches have been moved from Saturdays to Sundays. In other news, the sky is blue. We knew this was going to happen and yet, somehow this is news?

I hear that a certain Polish goalkeeper has taken to the piano to taunt us about our result this past Sunday. Well, that is funny as I would like to take to the guitar and play him a song about how he was dropped by his country and is now the 2nd or 3rd choice. It’s called, “Forever a Douchebag Losing Out to Nobody McNobodystein”. Catchy, ain’t it? I was trying to go the country route as the hip-hop route would involve a lot worse language. We will see who is taunting who come May. Do you happen to know how to play Taps on that piano, bud? You should learn it, as it may come in handy.

Gareth Bale was frustrated at how Levy handled his transfer. This is really good. Did you think Daniel was going to be all, “Oh thank you Gareth for gracing us with your presence. We would be happy to move you for a low, cut rate price cause you have shown us nothing but respect the last few weeks.”? Nope, we held the cards and forced Madrid to play the game on our terms and get a world-record fee, which was great business by Levy, as well as nice big middle finger to both player and his new club. Maybe next time, you shouldn’t have had everyone who has ever wore the colours of Madrid to pop off about how a certain Welshman was born to play for Los Blancos, or how much he deserves to play for a better club. Another smart move by Daniel, and yes, they did get Levy’ed.

Christian Eriksen has said that Tottenham was the only club who really pursued him and made him feel wanted. Cue the Arsenal and Liverpool fans, and critics who hate us, saying that he settled for Tottenham after no other club pursued him. I guess we should be thanking Liverpool’s scouts for cluing us in on one of the most talented playmakers in Europe and Arsenal’s tight wallet ways which allowed us to swoop in and get him on the cheap. Christian spoke with AVB and bought into the team and idea of what Tottenham will become, there is your friggin reason yet most journalists love to slag Spurs and point out that maybe he wasn’t as good as advertised. I guess we will have to wait and see but I will be accepting all apologies later this season.

And that should be that. Thanks for reading everyone! Let’s all pray for my sanity as well as our men coming back without any injuries. COYS!!!

That anoying Polish keeper has been at it again. I hate it when theses overseas players who accidently reacently ended up playing for. Go out their way to get involved in things which they know little about just to win favour with their newest supporters. I seen to remember a mr Nasri had a liking for this type of behaviour.

Somewhat unique spin to imply that Arsenal buying THE 'most talented playmaker in Europe (& not bothering with a cheap unproven imitation) was cheapskate given how much they paid.

Good luck with your Happy Shopper version. If he works out then Real will be back to take him under the special partnership & fund the next crop of journeymen for you to base deluded optimism on.
