The calm after the storm

There is nothing nicer than seeing Tottenham win on a Saturday morning as it sets up the remainder of the weekend so pleasurably, regardless of whether or not the woman has yard work for me to do or if I have to wake up at 7am to head into NYC for work. Today is the latter and I cannot get this ear-to-ear grin off my silly face. Watching our beloved Spurs dismantle a tricky, resolute customer in Norwich was beautiful to observe. I can honestly say from the opening whistle, it never looked like the result was ever in doubt as we simply outclassed our opposition off the pitch. Hustling and harassing the Norwich players, never giving them a moment to find an open man, then switching play from defence to offence in an instant, working both sides of the field using our new conductor, Christian Eriksen, to lead the symphony that is Tottenham’s play, under the midday sun on the hallowed ground of White Hart Lane, these are the dreams come to fruition for us Spurs fans and the nightmares for our opponents.

Match Points

-Eriksen is pretty good. Technically gifted with both feet and even a little snappy in the tackle. My new favourite Dane. Sorry giant Carlsberg beer glass in the freezer, you have been replaced.

-Siggy Smalls is his name now as he grabbed two goals, one with a perfect finish after great buildup play from the entire squad, especially Soldado, and the other just knowing where to be at the right time. Well-deserved and great to see as the young lad is a talent and a hard-worker. Someone to admire for the young kids.

-Paulinho and Dembele were monstrous. Both knowing where to go and how to move when the other advances up the pitch.Dembele showed great strength on numerous occasions and Paulinho was composed, disciplined and smart with his forays forward.

-Kyle Walker was back to his best, even doing a great deal of his work centrally as Norwich preferred to play very narrow. Combined well with Andros and let’s hope that young Kyle has gotten back into the groove.

-Danny Rose was a sparkplug and had a knack of being in the right place at the right time. The block on Ricky van Wolfswinkel was suburb and he constantly harassed the entire right side of Norwich. I liked his fire at one point where he screamed at the ref after a tussle with a Canary, but he needs to contain himself as he could have easily been booked for dissent. A great performance from the young lion.

-Never let Norwich get a foothold in the match. Even their few chances were comfortable for our defence, which looked sturdy as titanium.

In Other News

Harry wants Ade at QPR. Hey, “Messiah” I would also like Messi at the Lane but it’s not gonna happen. Piss off and keep our name out your mouth. We are better than you, we made you, but please, shut the hell up.

The media is still doing their annual love in for Wenger and Ozil as with the acquisition of the German playmaker, Arsenal are now contenders for the league title. Related to this, I started smoking crack and believing that I can shoot fireballs from my fingertips. 2 months from now they will be calling for a certain Frenchman’s head, but yeah, they are contenders.

A certain recently transferred Welshman scored for his new employers and was on his way to the victory, only to see another former Tottenham player score a golazo and make sure both sides split the points. I was more happy about GDS scoring one and pegging the “golden boy” back a few notches. I wish him nothing but a happy and healthy life, but I want Madrid to lose every single match that they play for the rest of eternity. Am I bitter? No, I just don’t ever want to hear about my ex, how well they are doing, or who they happen to be shagging. They are ex’s for a reason, move on people.

We play Tromsø this Thursday at the Lane in our first match of the group stage of the Europa League. I am sure we will see a few more new faces in the squad as the likes of Coco Lamela and Vlad Chricheş should be given full debuts. Kaboul will probably be given the start as he continues his return to fitness, Naughton will likely play on one of the flanks and Holtby should get preference over the other CM’s to play in the no. 6 position. Defoe will likely start and depending on his recovery, Chadli may feature as well. I’d like to see Siggy, Eriksen, Paulinho, Jan and Walker all rested as they all played all 180 minutes during their respective national teams matches, as well as a good portion of yesterday’s match.
