SPURS ASK Fans about Y-Word:
Tottenham Hotspur have said that they will send out a questionnaire to season-ticket holders in order to determine whether Spurs fans feel that it is time to move on, with regards to the “Y-Word”
Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust chairman, Darren Alexander, explained how they would use the results to make an informative decision.
“There is a document that Spurs will be sending out to season-ticket holders in due course,”
“It's a questionnaire, and basically what the club want to ascertain is do the fans think now is the right time to be stop using this identity.”
“If that comes back and a clear majority of fans think: yes, now is the time, then we move forward and we will work actively with the club if they want us to and we will think about how is best to do that.”
There were rebellious signs to the FA’s statement that they would clamp down on the use of the word as the crowd chanted “Yid Army” and “We'll sing what we want” during the game.
“If Spurs fans genuinely are going to stop using this word then it should be our decision,” Alexander said.
“It shouldn't be something that is trying to be forced on us by the FA or Peter Herbert.”
“There was a degree of defiance on Saturday and that was always going to happen with the way that the FA has gone about this.”
“This is something I have been dealing with for seven years and all of a sudden the FA have gone out on a limb by issuing this statement without proper consultation with the club or the fans.”
“There is always going to be the idea among the fans that they are picking on us and that is why that act of defiance happened.”
The club have been in conversations about the subject with the fans for a while and they have not done this as a reaction to the FA’s statement.
Soldado and AVB lavish praise on Eriksen:
Christian Eriksen excelled in the weekend’s set of Premier League fixtures and has already caught the attention of several players and pundits.
Roberto Soldado, who played a part in Spurs’ opener against
“He is a brilliant player. It's incredible that he has got up to this level already in his first game in English football,” the prolific front-man said.
“It's great for him, for the team. He is a player who is capable of improving all of us.”
“He is a player that makes everything look easy and that's good for us. Today he made the difference; he's a player that can support us in everything we do. He can offer us a lot of passes to everyone who plays in attack for Spurs.”
Andre Villas-Boas also contributed to the praise by saying:
“He he has all the conditions to become a great player. The Premier League will offer him the kind of challenge that he didn't have in the Dutch league.”
The Premier League will be an excellent platform for the already vastly experienced youngster as many will feel that there is much more to come from him.
Harry to Haggle for Former Player:
Harry Redknapp is thinking of revisiting his old hunting ground once again as he ponders a move for young striker, Harry Kane.
“I was going to take Harry on the deadline. I was going to take him that night when AJ looked like he was going to Palace.”
“Now, I don't know. Harry's probably the third choice at Spurs now. Whether they'll still loan him, I don't know. They might do.”
It will be interesting to see in January if Harry will attempt to poach other fringe players from Tottenham, whether they be loans or permanent signings.
